2015, a check will be presented to the FMPF at their annual Police Foundation Golf Tournament which

will also be held this year at the Fort Myers Country Club.

The Fort Myers Police Foundation raises funds to provide equipment to enhance the safety of the

Department’s men and women who serve and protect our community. For example, they provided

trauma kits for all of the patrol cars which have helped officers save two lives over the last year and

render aid to countless others. Their next project is to raise funds to acquire a police simulation

training system that creates real world virtual reality scenarios intended to train officers on

judgmental use of force skills, shoot/don’t shoot skills, less than lethal force options, and proper

interaction and verbal command skills. This computer video based system will provide our officers

with increased access to the training necessary to help them succeed on the streets while

maintaining both their own safety and the safety of innocent bystanders.
